{Romance Review} Before We Fall (Beautifully Broken #3) by Courtney Cole

{Romance Review} Before We Fall by Courtney Cole

Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black...

For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He's a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn't care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.

23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it's an absence of moments. She's like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other... to fill the void that her father left in her.

Until she meets Dominic.

After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.

Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated... they've learned a priceless lesson.

{Review}
"The slap can be heard all the way down the beach." (page 1, line 1)
It's heart breaking. It's heart mending.

Jacey. I liked that Cole showed that Jacey wasn't perfect, that she had struggled, had fallen, had made mistakes but that she was trying to make better choices, to be better. I was so glad that Jacey wasn't a doormat for the brooding bad boy that had her all in a tizzy. It took Jacey some time but when she saw that she couldn't get what she needed from Dominic she didn't settle.

Right from the beginning we see the type of guy Dominic is, hot, famous, voyeuristic, haunted. Cole was a master of stringing me alone and teasing me. I desperately wanted to know Dominic's secret, to know why he was so screwed up, what haunted him. Dominic's a mess but it just means that he's got a long way to go - a lot to deal with, a lot to accept and to forgive - and we get to see this journey.

Their relationship was a roller coaster ride of steamy and sweet, of comfort and pain. They've both got so much baggage, so much hurt and guilt they're carrying around and something in that makes them perfect for each other.

Though this was book three in Cole's Beautifully Broken series it can be - and was in my case - read as a standalone.
